The purpose of this policy and procedure is to ensure Empowering Connection provides Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) that improves quality of life, reduces behaviours of concern and minimises the use of restrictive practices.

This policy and procedure applies to all staff involved in delivering, supervising or supporting PBS and meets relevant legislation, regulations and NDIS Practice Standards.

Outcome

Each participant receives behaviour support that is appropriate to their needs and reduces and eliminates restrictive practices.

• PBS strategies are evidence-based and person-centred.
• Behaviour Support Plans are implemented as authorised.
• Restrictive practices are used only as a last resort and reviewed regularly.

Rights and Responsibilities

Outcome

Each participant’s rights, dignity and autonomy are respected.

Indicators

• Participants are supported to exercise choice and control.
• Safeguards are in place to prevent harm or misuse of practices.
