The purpose of this policy and procedure is to ensure Empowering Connection supports participants using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches and manages any use of Restrictive Practices lawfully, ethically and as a last resort.

This policy and procedure applies to all staff involved in the delivery, supervision or oversight of supports where behaviours of concern may be present and meets relevant legislation, regulations and Standards.

Each participant accesses behaviour support that is appropriate to their needs and reduces and eliminates the use of restrictive practices.

• Positive behaviour support strategies are implemented.

• Behaviour support is delivered by competent and trained workers.

Each participant’s rights, dignity and freedom are respected.
